Poon Hill Sunrise Trek

The classic first Himalayan trek — rhododendron forests, Gurung villages and that famous sunrise panorama.

Two happy trekkers at the Poon Hill viewpoint, the Dhaulagiri range behind at golden hour

If you have never trekked in Nepal, start here. Stone staircases climb through oak and rhododendron to Ghorepani, and a pre-dawn push puts you on Poon Hill as the light hits Dhaulagiri and the whole Annapurna wall. Comfortable teahouses, good dal bhat, no altitude drama.

Why you'll love it

  • 360° sunrise over Dhaulagiri & the whole Annapurna wall
  • Warm Gurung hospitality in Ghorepani & Ulleri
  • Spring rhododendron bloom turns the hillside red
  • Low altitude at 3,210 m — no acclimatization needed

Day by day

A gentle river-valley warm-up, then the famous 3,300 stone steps. Sleep above the valley with the first big views.
