Kapuche is a geographical oddity and a very good four days. Avalanches off Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal dump ice into a steep-walled bowl above Sikles, and the meltwater has pooled into a milky turquoise lake at just 2,546 m — low enough that you walk to a glacier through subtropical forest with no acclimatization at all. The last hour is a boulder scramble beside the moraine with the north wall rising 4,000 m directly out of the water, and the noise of ice releasing somewhere above you is a normal part of the afternoon. We route it through the Gurung villages of Sikles and Hugu so the culture matches the scenery.
